Xsilent is designed to protect private photos, videos and PDFs locally. This page explains its main protection mechanisms, how to use them and the limitations you should know.
Your private content remains under your control
Photos, videos and PDFs imported into Xsilent are protected locally on the device. Private files are encrypted individually using authenticated AES-GCM encryption. Thumbnails and items kept in Trash are protected as well.
Xsilent does not require an account or email address to use the vault and does not automatically upload private content to TSI Dev Studio servers.
Dynamic Decoy
The Master PIN opens the main vault. Any other valid PIN opens the Decoy gallery without displaying an incorrect-PIN message. Master and Decoy content remain separate.
The Decoy gallery can contain ordinary photos and videos selected by the user.
Import via Share
Dynamic Decoy also works when you send a photo or video to Xsilent from the phone gallery through the Share menu. The entered PIN determines the destination: the Master PIN imports the file into the main vault, while another valid PIN directs it to Decoy.
Active protection during use
Session protection
Xsilent protects access when the app moves to the background, the screen is turned off or the phone is placed face down, according to the behaviors implemented in the app.
Screen and recent apps
In protected areas, Xsilent blocks ordinary screenshots and screen recordings and hides private content from the recent-apps preview.
Automatic lock
Automatic locking can protect the vault after the inactivity period configured by the user.

Optional biometric access
Biometric authentication can be used for quick access to the Master vault and remains optional. The Master PIN continues to be the primary access mechanism.
Xsilent also includes a discreet mode in which the biometric option does not need to remain permanently visible on the authentication screen.

Clean Share
Clean Share prepares a copy before sharing without changing the encrypted original in the vault.
- automatic on-device face detection and blurring;
- manual blurring of sensitive areas;
- removal of sensitive metadata from the copy prepared for sharing;
- optional addition of a watermark with the user's message.
Face-detection processing takes place locally on the device. The encrypted original remains unchanged.
Encrypted backup, under your control
At the user's request, Xsilent can create an encrypted backup protected by a password separate from the PIN. Backup integrity is verified before restoration.
The backup is created locally, and the user chooses its save location through the Android file picker.
Xsilent does not provide its own cloud-storage service and does not automatically upload backups to TSI Dev Studio servers.
Encrypted Trash
Deleted items can remain temporarily in encrypted Trash and may be restored before automatic deletion, depending on the configured retention period of 7 or 30 days.

Private PDFs
PDFs can be imported and viewed in the Master vault. Xsilent validates PDF files and accepts documents up to 100 MB. They can be included in backups, restored and exported.
This feature is intended for viewing PDFs, not editing them.

Security Center
Security Center provides an overview of vault status and lets you check elements such as the protection score, encrypted-file integrity, Vault/Trash statistics, thumbnails and temporary-file cleanup.
Protection limitations
Xsilent is designed to protect private content under normal Android usage conditions, but no app can provide absolute protection in every situation.
Protection may be affected if the device is rooted, compromised or modified, or if another person gains extensive control over the system. An external camera can physically photograph what is displayed on the screen.
Xsilent cannot recover the Master PIN or a backup password if they are lost. Keep the backup password in a safe, separate place.

Select the encrypted backup and enter its password. Restoration is possible only with the correct password.
What happens if I lose the PIN or backup password?+
Xsilent cannot recover them.
Does Clean Share change the original?+
No. Clean Share prepares a copy for sharing, while the encrypted original remains unchanged.
Can I edit PDFs with Xsilent?+
No. Xsilent stores and displays private PDFs; it does not edit them.
